I'm so excited for Ramadan you guys! This year I will be spending my first Ramadan with my beloved husband, and it's also gonna be my first Ramadan abroad, In Sha Allah.
Keep reading for my preparations for my first Ramadan abroad in the US.
No Coffee on A Gloomy Day
As you already know, the weather in the Pacific Northwest can be unpredictable and extreme sometimes, but coming from someone who has lived in a tropical weather all her life, I can’t complain, because I love the weather here 🙂 It’s been raining these few days just before Ramadan and one thing I keep telling my myself is that I should be mentally prepared for the coming mornings without coffee! 😐 Last year I didn’t have coffee for the whole fasting month and lasted for at least 40 days, victory! haha. I hope I will have the strength this Ramadan too, in sha Allah.
Plus, we’ll be fasting for 16 hours in the beginning of Ramadan and 18 hours towards the end. Isya prayer will not come until after 10 pm while Fajr comes before 4 am, that means the window between finishing Tarawih prayer and waking up for suhoor is short, I just can’t imagine how my body is going to adjust to that routine, I’m nervous!
FaceTime with Family During Iftar
Despite the different timezones, I’ll make sure to always communicate with my family and friends back home. I’m planning to have a video chat with them just because how much I miss all the delicious food they’re gonna have for Iftar, lol! Memang tak la sis nk buat sendiri kuih lopes, segala murtabak, nasik kerabu semua tu kan hehehe #tanganbangku

Terawih at Home
The most exciting part for me is to pray Terawih together with Yusuf, at home. Though this Ramadan will be different as we can’t pray at the Masjid, maybe this is the Ramadan to truly, truly reset and recharge spiritually, without all the social distractions that come with Ramadan. I also want to make the best out of this Ramadan by memorizing as much Surah from the Qur’an as I can, and be better than the last Ramadan. Glad that my husband has the same goals too, what a blessing, Subhanallah!
Limit My Time Working on My Website
I would also probably limit my time working on my website and creating contents for my blog, maybe just during lunch time or a couple of hours in the afternoon, only to focus more on my spiritual reflection and self-improvement during the holy month of Ramadan.
Thanks for reading, guys! I pray that you all have a blessed Ramadan, may God shower His blessings upon us and accept all of our efforts to please Him 🙂

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is fantastic blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.| Eydie Mayer Dobson
